Endurance, Connection & Culture
In 2025, Daragh Morgan became the first person to complete a tidal-assisted stage swim around Ireland's entire 1,500km coastline.
But the journey was about far more than distance.
1,500 kilometres.
One island. One extraordinary journey.
In 2025, adventure athlete Daragh Morgan set out to swim around the entire coastline of Ireland.
Over five months and seventeen days, the journey took him through the wild Atlantic waters surrounding the island — through changing tides, weather, exhaustion, encounters with wildlife and the communities along the coast.
It became a journey of endurance.
But also of identity, connection and belonging.
The swim was only part of the story.
SWIM ÉIRE is not simply a record of an extraordinary sporting achievement.
It is a memoir about the experiences that shaped Daragh long before he entered the water — his struggles growing up in Ireland, the restlessness that followed him, and the unlikely path that eventually led him to the sea.
As the journey unfolds, Ireland itself becomes part of the story.
Its coastline.
Its people.
Its landscapes.
Its culture.
And something harder to define.
Draíocht.
The magic that exists in this place.
